General Information About APEX Block
For over 15 years now, people have been living in fire resistant, energy efficient homes and commercial buildings that are constructed using an earlier adaptation of APEX Block . In 2003, APEX Construction Systems, Inc. was founded in Portland, OR to perfect our original Hungarian-born EPS-Cement blend block. Since early 2003, and with the recent opening of our state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Phoenix, AZ , we have been providing U.S. homeowners, builders, architects, designers, and engineers with a greener, smarter, and faster solution for building homes, commercial structures, mixed-use properties and schools.
By combining 100% recycled expanded polystyrene (EPS) with the strength elements of cement, APEX walls deliver superior strength and energy performance compared to walls made of traditional construction materials. Additionally, building with APEX Block requires less labor, less materials and less construction steps than many ICF systems on the market today.
Our committed belief…
For all of us at APEX, it is not just about creating a 3-hour fire resistant building material that can help save lives, and help reduce our clients energy bills by 50% or more…it is also about a committed belief in doing what we can to make this world a better place to live.
As the price of oil continues to flirt with $100 a barrel, it is financially apparent that we must make our homes and buildings more energy efficient. Additionally, with the understanding that nearly two-thirds of our earth’s original forest cover is gone, it is evident that wood is not the smartest choice for the future of our planet.
Acknowledging the above, and the idea that we needed to create an energy-efficient, alternative building solution that would help preserve our critical forests, lessen our dependence on our natural resources, and significantly reduce our overall CO2 footprint; we had to do something different.
Over 95% of all ICF manufacturers on the market today continue to use virgin (manufactured) EPS for their insulating forms, yet APEX Construction Systems, Inc. has refused to adopt this practice.
The human race has arrived at a critical point in our existence. The realization that almost every decision we make about everyday affairs, will have some kind of impact on our environment is very real. Leaders of companies are in influential positions to make decisions that will have a significant environmental impact (positive or negative) in our world.
At APEX, we have made our decision…
We have chosen to exclusively utilize 100% recycled EPS in each and every APEX Block we make. Additionally, we challenge other manufacturers in the U.S. and across the world to compare the short-term benefits with the long-term environmental costs of their current manufacturing materials and processes to adopting more sensible, environmentally-friendly, alternative manufacturing solutions.
We sincerely hope you will take our choices under consideration when choosing the materials to build your next home, commercial building, or school AND we hope you will consider using products made by other companies with a similar philosophy.
We appreciate you taking the time to visit our website and for considering to choose APEX Block for your next home or commercial project.
Sincerely,
The APEX Team
